Overall, Porth harbour has experienced enormous transformations; most notably with addition of a second dock and conversion of a historic castle to a hotel, significantly altering it’s function and aesthetics.
In 2000, the western part of the port contained two car parks: one accessible via a secondary road that leads to a lifeboat and the other positioned off the major road which runs from the north to the south of the harbour. the west side also contained a marina private yacht which has showers and toilets beside it and fishing boats just behind. To the east is a dock that accommodates the passenger ferries and a public beach is located towards the north of the dock. A historic castle is seen at the south of the port with a second public beach to the right of it.
In the present day, the port has seen an introduction of a second dock to allow for an increased number of passenger ferries. The castle at the south has been converted to a hotel with the public beach beside it now privatized for the hotel guests only. To enhance the visitor’s experience, a new commercial zone with cafes and shops has been established near the lifeboat station. Furthermore, the previously distinct zones for fishing and the marina have switched locations.
