The two maps illustrate how Pentland developed between 1980 and 2007.
Overall, Pentland shifted from being a rural and industrial area to an urbanized residential settlement. The key changes included new construction of housing, introduction of new amenities and elimination of most facilities.
The northern section, in 1980, was dominated with grassland that surrounded a sea to the north with two roads, a big one in the center stretching from the sea to the south and one that is perpendicular to the big road, running from west to east under the lands. The big road divided the grassland into two areas, where the west sector featured a ground for manufacturing and the east side consisted of a parking lot. In 2007, the sea was converted into a yacht marina which had an addition road enclosing it. A new park, swimming pool and multi-storey car park that replaced the past industrial ground were constructed in the west region while the east zone presented three apartments. Moreover, various shops were built along the two roads.
The sourthern area extends downward from the small road. This section used to only consisted of two grasslands that were bisected by the large road. With the modernization, a dwelling area was built in the east along two sides of its own road, that led outside Pentland, and a cinema was added to the west zone.
