The two maps illustrate how Pentland developed between 1980 and 2007. Overall, Pentland transitioned from a rural and industrial area to a more urbanized residential settlement. Key changes included the construction of new housing, the introduction of various amenities, and the removal of most industrial facilities.
In 1980, the northern section was characterized by grassland surrounding a sea to the north. Two roads were present: a large central road extending from the sea to the south and a smaller road running perpendicular to it from west to east beneath the land. This large road divided the grassland into two sections, with the western area featuring a manufacturing ground and the eastern side consisting of a parking lot. By 2007, the sea had been transformed into a yacht marina, which was encircled by an additional road. A new park, a swimming pool, and a multi-storey car park replaced the former industrial area in the western region, while the eastern zone saw the construction of three apartment buildings. Additionally, several shops were developed along the two roads.
The southern area extends downward from the smaller road. Initially, this section consisted solely of two grasslands bisected by the large road. With modernization, a residential area was constructed in the east along both sides of its own road, which led out of Pentland, and a cinema was introduced in the western zone.
