The illustrated map demonstrates the alterations witnessed by the coastal town of Pentland in two years, 1950 and 2007.
Overall, as can be observed, this town used to be an industrial zone. However, by 2007, all industrial features were removed and new residential, commercial and recreational facilities had been added.
First and foremost, the road infrastructure of this town has remained mostly intact throughout the time frame, and a new half circular road had been added by the Sea, which in 2007, was transformed into a Yacht Marina. Moving onto the main changes, the industrial area situated in the western section of the map was demolished and replaced with a multi storey car park, a new swimming pool and commercial buildings had also been built in this area alongside the aforementioned parking spot.
Turning to the rest of the map, the two grasslands situated at the southern region of Pentland had been converted into a cinema, and a new set of residential buildings had been put up in this region as well, although the parking lot in the eastern section of the map had been removed. Finally, a new set of apartments were developed near the road surrounding the altered Yacht Marina.
