The given pictures illustrate the way in which the Australian zoo changed for tourism purposes between 1960 and the present.
Looking at the illustration, it is immediately evident that some old features were still there, whereas others such as birds and chimpanzees had all gone. Additionally, over approximately seven decades, the zoo had undergone a dramatic transformation with several large changes including infrastructure, picnic area and amenities.
Now, the picnic area and the Gift Shop remained unchanged, as did the Australian animals. However, chimpanzees that were used to adjoin the picnic area were demolished to make way for African animals and a seal show. Similarly, the African animals in the western part of the zoo were cleared and replaced with wild animals.
By that year, changes had been made to other features, the most notable of which was an extension of the Gift Shop next to the entrance. The harbour also has space for a ferry. While the cable car was constructed next to the picnic area
