The maps illustrate the changes in the outskirts of Fosbury town in 1980 and 2015. Overall, the town became more industrialized and commercial construction developed while the residential area was relocated.
In the year 2015, the most noticeable change was the presence of a newly constructed roundabout in the heart of the town. At the same time, the right side of the town experienced a great transformation. What used to be a vast field is now filled with warehouses, connected to a major street by small roads. Similarly, the original grocer’s shop, terraced houses, and block of flats near the main road were replaced by a supermarket with a car park behind it, only the hotel remaining in 2015.
Significant changes also took place on the left side. At first, the middle of this area was pretty open, with nothing except a park. However, in 2015, the former park turned into terraced houses, while a brand new park was built to their right hand. The two former tennis courts were also replaced by a sports centre and a car park in the bottom-left corner.
