The two line graphs compare the monthly export prices of rice in Thailand and Vietnam between 2012 and 2015.
Overall, Thailand consistently recorded higher export prices than Vietnam throughout the period. However, Thailand experienced more noticeable fluctuations, particularly in 2013, whereas Vietnam showed a more gradual upward trend.
In 2012, Thailand’s rice prices remained relatively stable, starting at approximately $350 per tonne and ending slightly lower at just above $320. By contrast, Vietnam began the year at around $140 and saw a steady increase, reaching nearly $190 before a minor decline in December.
A significant change occurred in 2013 when Thailand’s prices dropped sharply from about $340 in February to roughly $170 in April. After this fall, prices fluctuated moderately for the remainder of the year. Meanwhile, Vietnam’s prices rose steadily from approximately $90 to around $140 by the end of 2013.
During 2014 and 2015, Thailand continued to maintain higher prices, although both countries experienced small monthly variations. Overall, Vietnam demonstrated a steadier pattern of growth compared to Thailand.
