The line graph illustrates the proportion of three kinds of crime, namely: car theft, house burglary and street robbery in two countries over a period of 30 years, starting in 1970
Overall, as can be seen from the graph, there were an upward trend in the figures for car theft and house burglar, while the percentage of street robbery saw a fluctuation over the period studied
To begin with, the proportion of car theft stood at 0,4%, which was the highest figure in the first year. In comparison with the other crimes, the figures were slightly lower, at around 0,1% for street robbery, 0,3% for house burglary in 1970. There was a dramatic increase in the percentage of car theft in the subsequent following years, reaching a peak of 1,4% in 1985. Meanwhile, a gradual increase to 0,6 was seen in the figure for house burglary. Unlike the other kinds of crime, a fluctuation between 0,1% and just under 0,2% was seen in the percentage of street robbery over the timeframe
Regarding the figure for car theft witnessed a gradual decreas from 1,2% in 1990 to approximately 0,9% in 1995, and then dropped to 0,8 in 2008. During the same period, the figure for hoise burglary increased moderately, at 0,6% in 1990 and then declined slightly at around 0,4% in the last year.
