Overall, the percentage of online shoppers aged 26-45 had the highest rate in both years, while people aged 65+ had the smallest proportion.
In 2007, online shopping was most common among people aged 26-35, with just over 30% of internet users purchasing goods online. This figure was noticeably higher than that of the 36-45 age group, which stood at around 25%. However, by 2009, the trend changed. The proportion of online shoppers aged 36-45 rose sharply to approximately 38%, overtaking the 26-35 group, whose figure increased more moderately to about 32%.
A similar pattern could be seen among younger users aged 15-25 and those aged 46-55. Both groups recorded rates of around 20% in 2007. Over the two-year period, online shopping became significantly more popular among people aged 46-55, reaching nearly 28% in 2009, while the youngest group experienced only a slight rise to about 22%.
