The two pie charts delineate proportions illustrated in a survey of children’s participation in cultural and leisure activities, revealing differences in preferences between two genders.
A cursory examination reveals overall that girls and boys prefer spending time in different categories, however all of them can be comparable and belong to similar spheres, whereas some of named pastimes remain the same in both charts . To begin with, we can observe that sport is popular for both genders. For instance, basketball, soccer, and skateboarding combined take more than half of named activities (54%) for boys, at the same time dancing, gymnastics, and netball have almost the same impact (53%) for girls. By contrast, reading is extremely unpopular with boys, being the last favored activity with 2% of participation. But it is at the same time the second preferred option for girls with 21% of involved.
Moreover, we can see that music remains to be the popular for both genders with same proportion (10%). The different situation could be seen in the contrast in playing computer games is more than twofold, where it is the most popular activity for boys.
