The table illustrates the total expenditure on importing fish in the US in billions of dollars between 1988,1992 and 2000 while three pie charts show the proportions of imported fish to the US in percentages from China, Canada and other countries in the same years.
Overall, the total cost is the highest in 2000, while the amount of money was spent on fish importing in 1988 was the lowest. According to the pie chart, fish mostly imported from Canada in total. In 3 years, other countries were more involved in importing, rather than China.
Although the amount of money spent on importing was 6.57 billion dollars in 1988, it increased to 8.52 billion of dollars in 4 years. In 2000, the total expenditure increased and reached its highest point with 10.72 billion of dollars.
Despite the fact in 1988 Canada was dominating as a source of fish importing with 60%, while China and other countries were less than that (about 13% and 27% respectively), the following year other countries increased to 46% and hold the domination until the end. In 2000, while China increased their proportion to 30%, Canada imported the least amount of fish with 28%.
