while housing expenditure constituted just under third of whole domestic expenses in Hong Kong, the amount of money was spent on housing in Britain was just under fifth of whole family income. other goods and services were by far the most part of costs in Britain by 365, compared with 28% in Hong Kong. food came in second place in Britain, at 22%, while in Hong Kong the proportion was higher(27%). Another major expense in Britain was transport by 17%, but this was much lower in Hong Kong,at 9%. In both countries the smallest proportion of expenditure was on clothing.
Overall, the data indicates that in both cases food, housing and other goods and services were the main expenses, and clothing made up the smallest percentage of whole expenses in families in both countries.
