The diagrams give comparisons about how people in New Zealand made online purchases for four particular retail sectors in the year 2003 and 2013.
Overall, the proportion for travel and clothes witnessed a downward trend, a growth was seen that for books and film or music. In addition, data for film and music registered the highest figure among the categories in the surveyed period.
To begin with, in 2003, more than a third of the sales was for travelling, this number then underwent a 7% reduction in 2013, at 29%. A similar trend was seen in that of clothes in which the data substantially decreased from 24% in 2003 to 16% in 2013.
In addition, books and film and music only accounted for about a fifth of the sales – making them the two lowest categories – before experiencing a massive increase of 12% and 3% for film and music and for books respectively.
