The pie charts compare five different genres of books purchased in a bookstore from 1972 to 2012 measured in percentages.
Overall, it is visible that travel, biography and various other types of books experienced a decline, whilst the opposite was true for those of adult and children’s fiction.
Looking at the data acquired in 1972, other books were the most popular section with their rate accounting for 25%, which was higher than biography, adult fiction and children’s fiction by 5%. Travel books, with the figure of 15%, were the least viral section.
Turning to the information received in 1992, adult fiction was the highest figure accounting for 25%, being bigger than children’s fiction by 3%. Followed by them, travel reached its peak at 18%, which was lower than the rate of other books by 2%, and higher than biography by 3%.
Regarding the data given in 2012, adult and children’s fiction showed the best rate with the former accounting for 45%, and the latter 20% lower. Other types of books faced a significant level off by 8%, finishing the period with 12%, being higher than travel books by 2%, and biography by 4%.
