The pie chart delineates the proportions of electricity manufacturing across different power sources in France in 1990 and 2010.
Overall, what stands out most prominently is that all shares has underwent a moderate decline except for nuclear power, where a substantial increase can be observed.
Examing the data in detail, in 1990, the figures for natural gas and coal constituted the same and largest proportions, at 28% for each, followed by oil at around one-fourth of the total. Following this, the share of coal decreased to 13%, as much as share of oil has in 2010. Furthermore, natural gas falled dramatically, comprising only 5%. Similarly, the share of hydro power, which was the lowest in 1990, at 6%, dropped slightly and remained the lowest. In stark contrast, nuclear power, which stood at 17%, experienced a considerable increase (more than doubling its share) and accounted for more than half of the total proportion.
