The pie charts give information about the percentage of five categories of books-adult fiction, children’s fiction, biography, travel, others-sold by a bookseller in the years between 1972 and 2012.
Overall, the figures for adult fiction and children’s fiction rose at varying levels, with the pattern for the former category increasing dramatically and that for the latter experiencing a considrable growth, while the number of books about biography, travel and others saw a noticeable drop over the perion shown.
Focusing on bigger categories first, starting at about 25% in 1972, the figure for other book saw a significant fall and almost halved by the end of the period, decreasing by 12 till 2012. The adult fiction books sold increased enormously from 1972 to 2012, reaching 45%. Children’s fiction books sold rose to 22% in 1992, after which it improved significantly to 25% in 2012.
Looking at the details of the categories that decreased, the percentage of sold of biography books dipped dramatically from 1972 to 2012, reaching just 8%. Starting at 15% in 1972, the number of books about travel sold dropped slightly to 10% in 2012.
