Overall, men were arrested far more often than women, and the main reason for arrest for both genders was public drinking.
According to the pie charts, 32% of males had been arrested in the past five years, compared with only 9% of females. This means that around one-third of men experienced arrest, while the vast majority of women (91%) had not been arrested.
The bar chart shows that public drinking was the most common reason for arrest for both men and women, especially for men at nearly 40%. Breach of order and assault were also common reasons for men, both slightly above 15%. Women were less likely to be arrested for these reasons, although theft caused around 15% of female arrests. Drink-driving and “other reasons” accounted for smaller percentages for both groups.
