Overall, definite job ,formal study and hunt for job were the dominant reasons behind people migrating in and out from UK.
Looking at immigration, about one third of the immigrants came to UK for a definite job purpose, which constituted for the largest proportion of immigrants. The trend continued in emigration ,with 29% of individuals moving out of country for a definite job. Suprisingly, a substantial difference was observed in proportion of individuals migrating to and from UK because of formal study, with 26% constituting for immigration in comparison to only 4% for emigration.15% foreigners relocated to UK for accompany while 18% of total emigrants departure for same reason .
However, search for employment accounted for 12% and 22% respectively in immigration and emigration.6% of incomers to UK and 18% of outgoing citizen stated no purpose for their migration. People moving for accompany comprised nearly same proportion for both type of displacement, with 15% in case of immigration and just 2% less for emigration. Likewise 11% and 14% of individuals moved to and out respectively for other reasons.
