The maps illustrate the city design in Sholeaton from 1985 to 2015.
Overall, the town underwent extensive redevelopment, with the introduction of new leisure and transport facilities, as well as the expansion of commercial and residential areas.
In 1985, a road ran from north to south through the west side of the city. To the north of it were residential amenities, such as a park and shopping areas, as well as a bus station and a library further to the south. On the western side, a car park and a café occupied much of the area, while shops were scattered around the café. At the same time, houses were situated nearby.
By 2015, the town had become an entertainment place, with the creation of a bicycle park and the expansion of shopping centres that covered most of the central parts. Meanwhile, the café gave way to a new fountain, and more trees were planted behind the park and around the new restaurant that replaced the shops that stood on the west side, whereas pedestrian crossings were introduced throughout the city. Additionally, the structures in the east and the park in the north-west were widened, whilst the library was removed from the south-west to the north-west to make way for a business centre. The bus station was relocated to the south-west side, where the car park remained unchanged.
