Cambridge 13/Test 4/Task 1/ Map

The maps provided depict the current layout of a particular universityʼs sports centre and its proposed future transformation. Broadly, the sports centre is set to undergo a metamorphosis, particularly, expanding in size and enhancing its recreational amenities.

Presently, the facility features two outdoor courts located in the west and east sections. A central 25m pool is positioned between a changing room and a seating area, with a gym situated above the pool, perpendicular to the reception.

In accordance with planned developments, the sports centre will experience considerable changes while retaining its core structures — the 25-meter pool, changing room, and seating area. Not only will the outdoor courts be wiped out, but their spaces will also be integrated into the main building. The northeastern section will house two new dance studios, accompanied by an additional changing room directly below. Upon entering the facility, visitors will encounter a cafe on the right and sports market on the left. In addition to this, a leisure pool will be made available for the public, positioned adjacent to the main pool, with another changing room situated beneath it. Concurrent with these developments, the gym will be doubled in size.
