The maps illustrate the current layout of an airport and the changes that are planned as part of its redevelopment over the following two years.
Overall, the airport is set to undergo substantial expansion and modernization. The number of gates will increase from 8 to 18, while the existing walkways will be replaced by a sky-train system. In addition, several new facilities, including shops, a bag-drop area, an ATM and a car-hire facility, will be introduced.
At present, the departures and arrivals areas are located in the lower section of the airport, with security and passport control on the departures side and passport control and customs serving arrivals. There is also a café in the departures area, while passengers access eight gates via two walkways leading to the southeast of the airport. Following the redevelopment, the departures area will feature a bag-drop facility as well as a café, while the existing check-in facility will remain. Shops will also be added above the security and passport-control areas. The two walkways will be removed and replaced with a covered sky-train system connecting the main building to the enlarged gate area, which will contain 18 gates in total.
In the arrivals area, passport control and customs will remain in their current positions. However, a second café and a new ATM will be added, while a car-hire facility will be constructed beside the arrivals building. Overall, the redevelopment will considerably increase the range of passenger facilities while improving access to the gates through the introduction of the sky train.
