The two plans illustrate and compare the layout of the Grand Park from 1920 to today’s day. Overall, the public place had undergone a noticeable reconstruction which touched almost every space on the map in order to make it more modern as well as curious for visitors and safe for children.
To begin, one can notice that a large fountain used to be located right in the middle of the park, while two small rose gardens took space in the western area, while the third – in the east. After the modifications, the fountain was completely demolished and replaced by a sizeable rose garden surrounded by four seats from each side, while two smaller gardens was fully removed from the map.
Regarding the glasshouse, a water feature took its place and an underground entrance for cars was introduced. To the north of the place discussed, it used to be a tiny pond for water plants located close to the rose garden. The children’s play area was constructed on this place, now being close to the Cafe added nearby.
When it comes to the stage for musicians and seats located relatively far away from this building, it was completely removed from the park and transformed into a huge amphitheater for concerts. This renovation allowed to remove the unnecessary seats and therefore made the park area bigger.
To summarise, one can conclude that the park changed significantly over the years, with multiple areas being completely demolished and replaced by more popular ones.
