Overall, it is clear that the number of doctors practising in Australia increased rapidly, which were occupied more than a half of the total by men and most people working there were Australian over the period.
To begin with, there were 300000 doctors working in Australia in 1986, which were accounted nearly 60% by male and others by female. Futhermore, at that time, the Australian doctors working there reached 60% and other nationalities evenly took 40%. In 1996, the total number of doctors increased steadily to 640000. There were more female doctors practising in this year, which rose to nearly 60% and the figure for men was only 40%. The number of native doctors decreased slightly to around 50% but it was still higher than the category of others, which increased to nearly 50%.
Moreover, it climbed up to 800000 doctors in 2006, which was 50% of men and nearly 50% of women and the number of Australian doctors rose steadily to 60% while other nationality doctors went down to under 40%.
