The table gives information about consumtion of water in three sectors – domestic, industrial, and agricultural – in six countries in 2003.
Overall, it can be easily noticed from the table that water usage was highest in agricultural fields in many countries, while the least was in industrial.
As for the agricultural usage of water, the figure for the United Kingdom was at the leading position in 2003: 90%, closely followed by China and Japan: 87% and 82%, respectively. The percentage of India was double that in Australia, starting at 33%. Meanwhile, water requirements in Canada was significantly lower: merely 5%. In comparison, water consumption in industrial sector was considerably different: 32% and 15% in Canada and in India, respectively. Whereas, remaining countries were lower than 10%.
In terms of domestic sector, the figures for Australia and Canada were 65% and 63%, respectively, considerably more than India (19%), Japan (10%), China (6%), and the UK (5%).
