The chart compares four nations in terms of their proportion of land covered by forest during 1990 and 2005 with further predicted figures for 2015. In general, while Brazil had by far the highest percentage during three periods, Australia and Chile, out of 4 countries, were the lowest.
As can be seen from the table, Australia ‘s land covered by forest slightly declined between 1990 and 2005 ( 21,9%-21,3%, and throughout the years until 2015, it is estimated that 20% of land will be surrounded by forest. In contrast, covered land of New Zealand experienced a moderate increase of proportion, which remains the figure at 31% in 2005. Then, it predictably rises to 32,3% in 2015.
Brazil had a whipping amount of land covered by forest peaking the figure at 62,2% during the first year, then it , however, fell by 5% when turning to the year 2005. The percentage continues to decrease for the third consecutive year as has been estimated. Conversely, Chile seems to be far down the list with 20,4% and 21,5% in 1990 and 2005 respectively, yet, it is foreseen to grow consistently to 22% in 2015 making it the third place in the list.
