The table compares the workforce distribution of males and females in two main periods from 1993 to 2003 in New Zealand. Overall, it can be seen that the services and transport accounted for the largest percentage jobs in both intervals, especially female in 1993. The opposite was true for agriculture, business and building.
In 1993, over half of the number of females who were servers and drivers, also made up the largest rate, at 53% compared to 22% of male workforce. Meanwhile, sectors of agriculture, business and building were not popular in female labor; these categories had a higher proportion for male, about 57% in total. Approximately 25% of females worked in manufacturing which was more than double the figure of those in males, at 16%. Similar trends were in social services for women and men with 13% and 5%, respectively.
According to 2003, the percentage of the female workforce in services and transport fields fell about 36%, but they still were the largest rate in total. Both agriculture and manufacturing fields declined minimally with 6% and 12% which were less than men in these categories.Following by the female workforce in social services represented 18% which was double the number of male in this area. Even though business and building had a noticeable rise, they still did not match the ratio of men in these fields.
