The given table illustrates different languages spoken by native speakers as well as non-native ones. Overall, with regards to number of native speakers, Mandarin Chinese occupies the highest position across six surveyed languages while English is most commonly by non-native ones as opposed to the lowest figure recorded for Portuguese.
As can be seen from the data collected, in terms of native speakers, Mandarin Chinese is by far the most dominant category, at up to 900 million individuals. There is a narrow gap among numbers for three languages including English, Spanish and Hindi, ranging from 339 million to 370 million people. Both Portuguese and Arabic register low figures of 203 and 206 million individuals worldwide respectively. As for speakers using these languages as the second one besides their mother tongues English holds the top position, with the figure reaching more than 600 million people, massively higher than both Hindi and Chinese, at only 120 million and 190 million in order. Spanish ranks fourth at 70 million speakers, seven times as much as the figure for Portuguese.
Chinese ranks first in terms of total speaker worldwide, at 1, 090 million people, closely followed by English at 942 million people. The figures for Hindi and Spanish show similar levels, standing at over 400 million individuals, nearly double those of the two remaining languages.
