Despite its extensive network, the New York City Subway records only 1.65 billion annual journeys, with a single ticket costing 2.50 dollars. Both are surpassed by the Beijing Subway, with 3.6 billion journeys per year and 0.45 dollars per ticket. However, this subway only has 19 lines, with 357 in total length.
Meanwhile, although there are just 11 lines, with 249 miles in total length and 1.2 billion annual journeys, the cost of a single ticket on the London Tube is more expensive than others, namely 7.30 dollars. In comparison, the Tokyo Subway, Paris Metro, and Mexico City Metro charge lower fares at 1.64, 2.30, and 0,23 dollars, respectively, while London’s fare is significantly higher. However, their total lengths are shorter than the London Tube, at 189, 127, and 140 miles, respectively. In addition, their number of lines (13, 16, and 12) and annual journey (d 3.1, 1.5, and 1.6 billion) are comparable to those of the London Tube.
