The chart illustrates the average number of hours per week that workers spent working remotely, in Kazakhstan, Germany, Brazil, and Japan from 2015 to 2024.
Overall, Kazakhstan and Germany followed the same path, increasing in 2020 and experiencing a decline by 2024. Japan differed, registering a continuous rise throughout the period, whilst Brazil stopped growing entirely after 2020.
Kazakhstan and Germany both followed the same trend. Despite starting low at 2 and 4 hours, they still managed to reach 14 and 16 hours respectively, increasing by 7 and 4 times. However, by 2024, the two saw gradual decreases by 5 and 4 hours
In contrast, Japan, which started at 1 hour recorded a constant rise. Japan Initially reaching 6 hour mark, continued on to finish the stretch at 8 hours per week. Brazil’s figure more than doubled, from 5 to 11 hours, then remained there until 2024.
