Overall, all universities experienced a significant increase in Indian student enrollment, with Sheffield University showing the most dramatic growth in percentage terms, while BPP University had the slowest rise. Notably, Coventry University surpassed BPP to become the most popular destination by 2021/22.
Regarding the most striking trend, Sheffield University’s Indian student population nearly tripled from 815 in 2020/21 to 2345 in 2021/22, marking a 187.7% increase—the highest among all institutions. Similarly, Coventry University and the University of Leicester saw remarkable growth, with a rise of 121.3% and 103.4% respectively. The former also recorded the highest absolute number of students (5,290) in 2021/22, overtaking BPP University.
In contrast, BPP University, despite having the largest cohort (3,505) in 2020/21, exhibited the lowest growth rate at 46.8%, reaching 5,145 students in 2021/22. Meanwhile, the University of Greenwich and Anglia Ruskin University witnessed steady increasing of 84.9% and 69.6% respectively, reflecting their sustained appeal to Indian students.
