The given graph illustrates the comparison of the cost of a cup of coffee between the six particular Australian cities over a 4-year timeframe starting in 2010.
On the whole, it is apparent that Sydney had the highest price for a single cup of coffee in comparison with others. Moreover, Melbourne experienced the highest boost in the percentage change while Brisbane stayed the same throughout the period.
Melbourne’s coffee price saw the biggest rise of 20.8%. In 2010, a cup of coffee only cost 2.4 dollars. However, after just four years, the price increased by 0.5 dollars; and consequently, it cost up to 2.9 dollars to buy coffee in Melbourne in 2014.
In comparison, Sydney placed second at 13,2% where the price of a cup of coffee rose to 3.17 dollars from 2.9 dollars between 2010 and 2014. This is followed by Perth, Adelaide at around 7% where the coffee costs grew to 2.25 dollars and 2 dollars, respectively. Over the same period, the percentage of Canberra was lowest, at 6.25% with the increase of 0.2 dollars to 1.7 dollars.
Compared with other cities, Brisbane was the only city which recorded no change in its coffee price. To be specific, Brisbane people paid 2.25 dollars to buy coffee in 2010 and the price was constant in the following four years.
