Overall, the number of travelers who bought travel insurance was minimal in the earlier period shown. However, the number considerably increased for all age groups after five years from that same period.
In 1995, 397,837 numbers of people purchased travel insurance. Among them, the same percentage of people, with 5 per cent, procured travel insurance from two different age groups, that is,18 to 28 and 29 to 39. Meanwhile, middle-aged people (40 to 50 and 51 to 61) were slightly more interested, with 10 and 12 per cent respectively. In addition, the popularity of this insurance was highest among the elderly people, ranging from 62 to 72 and 73 to 83, with approximately 28 and 38 per cent.
On the contrary, 3,569,251 people bought trip insurance in the year 2000. Old-aged people ranging from 73 to 83 years shared the largest proportion in the travel cover, with 50 per cent. Nevertheless, only 10 per cent from, 18 to 28 age group were interested. Elderly people who were between 62 to 72, the age group shared the second largest proportion, with around 38 per cent. Furthermore, commuters between 51 to 61, 40 to 50, and 29 to 39 years old contributed around 28, 20, and approximately 12 per cent in the total distribution of people on board who acquired travel-related insurance.
