The table illustrates the number of international visitor arrivals, in millions, in eight countries, namely France, the US, Spain, the UK, Italy, Turkey, China, Germany, and Hong Kong, between 2009 and 2010.
Overall, the US had more tourist arrivals compared to other countries, while Germany experienced more changes than other countries. However, in Hong Kong, the arrivals percentage went down.
In the US, Spain, the UK, and Italy, the number of arrivals was slightly the same, between 44 and 67 million. All these countries’ trends changed sharply, about +1.5%, +1.8%, +3.6%, and 2.3% respectively, from 2009 to 2010.
However, France exhibited the same percentage as the first year, at 76 million, as a result, its percentage did not change. In addition, arrivals to Germany showed more changes; in 2009 it was 11 million, and by 2010 it went up to 23 million, and its percentage was +109%. In China, it started with 22 million and by 2010 reached 23 million, and it showed +55% changes. In contrast, only in Hong Kong did it decrease, from 10 to 9 million; as a result, its change was -11%.
