The table chart illustrates how much money workers from five employment sectors earned, in three various salary levels in 2009.
Overall, the figure for finance had the highest maximum and salary average. However, construction had the lowest minimum salary.
Looking first at the maximum salaries, finance had by far the highest figure, at £8,850. This was followed by transportation at £4,580, while manufacturing stood at £3,500. Construction and hospitality had relatively similar maximum salaries, at £3,100 and £2,900, respectively.
Regarding minimum salaries, finance again had the highest figure, at £1,600. Manufacturing and hospitality had minimum salaries of £930 and £890, respectively, while construction recorded £790. Transportation had the lowest minimum salary, at just £843. As for average salaries, finance was also the highest-paying sector, with an average of £5,225. Transportation ranked second at £2,712, followed by manufacturing at £2,215. The figures for construction and hospitality were lower, at £1,945 and £1,895, respectively.
