The table illustrates the number of flights of seven most go-to airlines chosen by American people, with a comparison between 1995 and 2005 furthering illustrating the growth rate of each.
Overall, all of the seven airlines enjoy a remarkable customer growth over this decade, irrespective of the growth rate being high or low. Amongst them, Delta Air Lines boasts a seven-digit customer base, 1,064,000, leaving everyone else in the dust.
Over this decade, it sits strongly along with Southwest Airlines, United Airlines, and American Airlines, as Big Four in the ranking, while there is a subtle change in the other three: JetBlue Airways overtakes Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines in the absolute number of passengers aboard in 2005.
Jetblue’s leap comes together with its unparalleled growth rate of customers. From 1995 to 2005, it now flies almost 2.5 times passengers to their destinations than it used to. By contrast, Southwest Airlines and United Airlines are becoming less favored by the public, with their growth rate being merely 60% and 33%, far less than the other five. If this stagnancy of performance continues, they are highly likely to be replaced by the peer competitors.
