Overall, there was a notable shift in the age distribution of UK visitors, with increases seen in the younger (0-15 and 16-24) and older (55+) groups, while the middle-aged categories (25-35 and 35-45) saw a decline.
In 1981, the largest group of visitors was those aged 25-35, making up half of the total visitors. However, by 2015, this figure had fallen significantly to thirty-two percent. On the other hand, the proportion of visitors in the 16-24 age bracket saw a considerable rise, from just four percent in 1981 to fifteen percent in 2015. Likewise, the percentage of visitors aged 55 and over increased from sixteen percent to twenty-five percent.
Meanwhile, the 35-45 age group experienced a decline, dropping from twenty-two percent to twelve percent over the period. The percentage of children (0-15) also grew slightly, rising from ten percent to twelve percent.
