Overall the “USA” produced highest amount of waste whereas Scotland had the lowest figures. While Poland ranked third in terms of total waste production.
In 1998 “USA” produced 107 million tons of waste. The figure increased to 150 tons in 1992 and reached a peak of 200 tones in 2000.Canada, by contrast, generated only 20 tons in 1998. Although the amount fell slightly to 19 tons in 1992, it rose significantly to 29 tons by 2000.
Turning to the remaining countries, Japan experienced a steady increase in waste production, rising from 15 million tones in 1988 to 25 million tons in 2000. Ireland also saw growth between 1988 and 1992, climbing from 10 to 16 million tones, although this figure declined slightly to 9.9 million tons in 2000.
In contrast, Poland’s waste production fluctuated, dropping sharply to 2.89 million tons in 1992 before recovering to 18 million tons in 2000. Scotland consistently recorded the lowest figures, with waste increasing modestly from 3 to 5 million tons over the period.
