The tables provide detailed information about the international students who studied in Canada and US by their country of origin, from 2002 to 2003 year.
Overall, the number of international students increased in both Canada and United States between 2002 and 2003. However, China was the largest source of students in Canada, while India was in US despite a decline in Indian students.
With regard to Canada generally the total number of students increased considerably from 59,870 to 70,004 in 2003 which means experienced 16.9% of rise. China had the highest number among 3 countries shown experienced the biggest increase of more than 45%. Similarly, the proportion of international students also rose for US but, slightly by 9%. By contrast, India like China recorded a substantial growth from 2,100 to 2,835 of learners.
Moving on to US, noticeably India, despite the decline in 2003 demonstrated the most dramatic recordings rather than the other countries. Moreover, the second was the Canada with a significant rise of +7% of overseas students followed by China from 110,000 to 116,600 with the percentage of + 6. Consequently, United States accounted for 592,230 students from overseas with the marginal growth of 1,8% in comparison with Canada in total.
