The two tables illustrate the number of students worldwide from 4 countries, namely China, The USA and India, in two academic years in Canada and The USA. Overall, the USA hosted significantly higher number of international students compared to Canada across two years. Additionally, in both countries, Chinese students made up the largest number of students among the three.
In Canada, China the number of students and yet the most changed country with +43% among the three. The USA and India also witnessed a significant growth in the number of students, with 5450 and 2was by far the best student contributor, with 5400 students in 2002-2003, which is followed by the USA, with 5000 students, a figure that is almost double the number of Indian students. In 2003-2004, China was again dominant in 835 students, these figures being in +9% and +35% rise respectively. The total number of students increased sharply in the latter year, reaching 70004 counts, up from 59870 in 2002-2003.
Similarly, the USA had the largest number of students from China in both years, with 182000 students in the latter year, down from 200000 students in the former year indicating -9% decrease. The remaining two countries (the USA and India), however, started relatively low in student number, with 110000 and 31000 students, which then changed by +6% and +7% respectively. After these ups and downs, total number of students saw a -2% decline from 581600 to 57000 students during the two academic years.
