The tables compare the average incomes of UK graduates and undergraduates from 2000 to 2010, regarding five different age groups.
Overall, the average salary of graduates is 29,900 pounds, significantly higher than that of non-graduates (17,800 pounds). Notably, this trend is also true across all age groups.
Regarding the youngest group, the annual earnings of graduates were slightly higher than those of non-graduates, with a gap of just over £1,000. However, as the age increased, the gap between the two groups also widened dramatically. By the age of 32, the general salary of graduates was 31,500 pounds, while the figure for undergraduates was 19,100 pounds.
Turning to the ages of 42 and 52, the average income of graduates kept rising to 32,800 pounds and 33,900 pounds, respectively. Meanwhile, the figure for UK non-graduates remained constant at 19,100 pounds. Finally, the average salaries of both groups decreased by the age of 62, at 23,100 pounds for graduates and 15,300 pounds for non-graduates.
