The two pictures illustrate the transformation in the area called Somerville throughout 10 years.
Overall, this town has undergone a major modernization and urbanization during the given period. New infrastructure such as accommodation and services has been enhanced and developed to satisfy residents’ demands.
Regarding the west region of Somerville town, urbanized facilites are recently being constructed on the empty area. The car park 1 which was the sole building in this half, is replaced by a block of restaurants and a coffee shop. There is an introduction of a bookstore in the south-western part of the town. Two hotels are being built near the river to meet the accommodation needs of local dwellers. In addition, a long footpath surrounds those buildings and two chains of shops, which is by the coffee shop and the bookstore, are being built on either side of that footpath.
In terms of the east area of that town, few changes has been witnessed over a ten-year period. The main road which split the town into two half in the past is recently leading to the exclusive car park in the town. To develop the life quality of this area, there is also a construction of a golf course across the main road.
