There was a forest and some ancient structures in the north-west, while rare plants and animals were found further south. An irrigated farmland area occupied the eastern side, next to a village. Mountains were located in several parts of the area.
By 2000, the landscape had changed considerably. The river was transformed into a large lake after the construction of a hydroelectric dam in the southern part of the area. The former irrigated farmland, forest, ancient structures and areas containing rare plants and animals had disappeared. A fishing area was established on the lake, while a hotel was built on its eastern side.
Furthermore, electricity infrastructure was added around the dam, with power lines extending towards the south and east. A new village was also situated near the dam, while the mountains around the area remained largely unchanged.
