The diagram depicts various stages in the life cycle of the fly. Overall, it can be seen that the diagram gives seven specific developmental stages of the fly life cycle, beginning with eggs and ending with mature adults.
In the beginning, the mature female fly produces eggs; the approximate age of the eggs is 8-24 hours. There are 3 main stages of larva. The first stage, or larva, is when the larva starts hatching from the eggs, is small, and is feeding. In the second stage of larva, they grow larger and continue feeding; the approximate age of this stage is 4 to 7 days. In the final stage of larva, they are preparing to pupate.
Subsequently, after the three main stages of larva are passed, the next stage is the transformative stage, or what’s called pupa, often in a hardened casing. Then the next stage is that they emerge from the pupa, but they are not yet fully mature, it’s called young adult. And finally, the last stage of the fly life cycle is mature adult. The fly is fully developed and ready to produce eggs.
