The map illustrates how the coastal zone in Pentland city was transformed between 1950 and 2007.
Overall, it can be seen that there were significant alterations over the given period. The main changes involved the addition of new facilities and modernizing the sea to the yacht marina.
To begin with, on the northern side of the map, in 1950, there was the sea. Meanwhile, in 2007, this place was transformed to the yacht marina and was surrounded by a road. Additionally, in the northwest of the coastal area, at the beginning, there was the industrial zone. However, for the next fifty seven years, in this place a park, swimming pool, multi-story car park and many shops were constructed. Furthermore, in 1950, in the southwest of the coastal area was empty but until 2007, the cinema and a shop on the north-east side of the road were built in this zone.
In addition, just above on the east side of the road, this area was occupied by a car park way. By 2007, three apartments and a lot of stores were developed. Finally, in 1950, on the south-east side of the town was a grassland area without any buildings, whereas until 2007, ten houses with road and many shops were added.
