The two pie charts compare the proportions of individuals in an engineering company according to their degree and professions in 1980 and 2008. Overall, the proportion of employees with science degrees increased over the period, while the Art degrees decreased or almost remained stable. In addition, the rise in the percentage of employees in PhD Science was the most and the drop in first degree arts was the most.
In 1980, it can be seen that the employees with a Master’s degree in Science had the largest proportion at 29%. It was followed by the first degree Arts at 25%, and the first degree Science at 19%. The PhD Science accounted for f%, while Masters arts was 12%. The smallest group was people with PhD Arts at only 2%.
On the other chart, in 2008, the proportion of employees in PhD Science had risen dramatically to 30%, and it had become the highest proportion. The Masters Science remained unchanged at 29%. In contrast, the percentage of employees with a first degree in Arts fell from 25% to 11%, while the proportion with a first degree in Science dropped from 19% to 10%. Meanwhile, Masters Arts increased slightly to 13%, and the figure for PhD arts rose from 2% to 7%.
