According to the chart, it is notable that the number of working, commuting and relaxing at home saw an increase between 1958 and 2008. Working, the most popular activity, recorded 33% in 1958 and this rate has grown progressively to 42% in 2008. Furthermore, relaxing at home witnessed a slight rise, started at 8% in 1958 then climbed to 13% in 2008. Similarly, there was an ascent in travelling to work as it increased from 2% to 8%, however pastime was the least popular activity that working adults spent time.
In comparison, a sharp decrease has been experienced in the trend of sleeping, socializing outside the home while other activities remained stable. In 1958, the percentage of sleeping was 32%, then it dropped to 25% in 50 years. Following this, the amount of adults going out has plunged from 19% to 6%. Meanwhile, the rate of other activities was still a plateau and was the least favoured along with going out with friends and family
