Dear Mr. and Mrs. Nygard,

I hope you are in good health and must be making arrangements for Chris’s surprise birthday party. I am honored that you have invited me to attend the party, as Chris would be delighted to enjoy his special day with me.

I believe Chris will really enjoy this surprise celebration, as he has just taken his exams and this party will give him an opportunity to feel refreshed and rejuvenated with his friends and family members.

I apologize that I wouldnot be able to join this event since I have some work commitments on that day. I am already feeling sad about missing the opportunity to see Chris after a long time. However, I have bought a present for Chris, which he will recieve in a few days. I am sure, he would get excited after seeing that special gift. Please let him know that I will be visiting him next month during my holidays.

I hope you understand my situation and accept my apology, moreover; say sorry to Chris on my behalf. Tell him that I will be waiting for his email.
