Dear employer,

I hope this letter finds you in good health. As you know, I was supposed to have an interview with you but, due to some family situation I can not be present on the arranged date.

Last night, I got summoned by my mother to pay my visit to my grandfather, who is in the hospital suffering from last stage cancer. Since, he does not have enough time left, it is necessary for me to meet him in his last days. Additionally, his doctor mentioned that he has maximum 3 days of living. This visit might take me a week as the hospital locates in a different city. Hence, it is impossible to arrive on the interview date.

I hope you will understand my circumstances and accomodate me by rescheduling the date for the interview as I am still very thrilled for this job opportunity.
