The bar chart illustrates the drinking habits related to coffee and tea consumption in five Australian cities over the past four weeks. Overall, the majority of the population in all cities except Adelaide visited a café for coffee or tea. Additionally, purchasing instant coffee was popular, whereas buying fresh coffee was generally less common.
Firstly, visiting cafés was most prevalent in Melbourne and Hobart, with figures at 64% and 63%, respectively. Sydney followed closely at just over 60%, while Brisbane was slightly lower at over 55%. Adelaide was the only city where fewer than half of the population (under 50%) frequented cafés. Notably, Adelaide was the sole city where a higher percentage of people (50%) bought instant coffee. In Hobart, 54% of residents purchased instant coffee, followed by Brisbane at 52%, Melbourne at 48%, and Sydney at just over 45%.
In terms of fresh coffee, all cities recorded figures below 45%. Sydney led with 44%, closely followed by Melbourne at 42%. Hobart was next with 39%, while Adelaide and Brisbane both had figures around 34%, indicating a lower preference for fresh coffee in these cities.
