Dear Grandmother,
I hope this letter finds you in the best of health and high spirits. First and foremost, I want to sincerely apologize for not being in touch sooner. I know how much our regular calls and visits mean to both of us, and I feel genuinely terrible for letting so much time slip by without reaching out. Please know that not a day has passed without me thinking of you.
The past month has been incredibly demanding academically. My semester is drawing to a close, and I have been buried under a mountain of assignments, research papers, and preparation for my final examinations. On top of that, I joined a group project for my biology course that required late-night study sessions almost every other day. Between attending lectures in the morning, working at the library in the afternoon, and reviewing notes well into the evening, I barely had a moment to breathe, let alone pick up the phone. It has truly been the most hectic period I have experienced since starting university.
However, I am thrilled to share some wonderful news – my exams will be completely finished by the 20th of this month. I would absolutely love to come and visit you that very weekend, perhaps arriving on Saturday morning and staying through Sunday. We could have a long, leisurely breakfast together, take a walk in the garden like we used to, and you could tell me all about what has been happening in the neighbourhood. I have missed your cooking more than words can say!
Please do let me know if that weekend suits you. I cannot wait to sit at your kitchen table again and simply enjoy your wonderful company.
With all my love and many apologies,
Nikolai
